Hey Jude - One of the greatest hits of the Beatles has turned 50

Have you ever sang: "Nana na naaa, nanananaaa"?

Of course you have. We all have, haven't we? At home, walking your dog, on your bike, in the car, anywhere, any time. And as we all deserve to be congratulated on our birthdays, one of the instant Beatles classics does too.

"That's Paul's best song."

John Lennon clearly loved Hey Jude. The rest is history, and if you are in reading mode, enjoy this slightly lengthy celebration in the Guardian of the marvellous hit song. The reason for the article is Hey Jude's 50th birthday on 30 August.

Here is a great All Star version performed for a good cause 1997 with the lyrics.

If you have doubts about how important Hey Jude is, remember. Rolling Stone magazine put it to #8 on its 500 Greatest Songs of All Time. Well, to be able to sing it along next time, here are the lyrics from LyricWiki for you.

Hey Jude (lyrics)

Hey Jude, don't make it bad
Take a sad song and make it better
Remember to let her into your heart
Then you can start to make it better

Hey Jude, don't be afraid
You were made to go out and get her
The minute you let her under your skin
Then you begin to make it better

And any time you feel the pain
Hey Jude, refrain
Don't carry the world upon your shoulder

For well you know that it's a fool
Who plays it cool
By making his world a little colder

Na na na na na na na na na

Hey Jude, don't let me down
You have found her, now go and get her (so let it out and let it in)
Remember (Hey Jude) to let her into your heart
Then you can start to make it better

So let it out and let it in
Hey Jude, begin
You're waiting for someone to perform with

And don't you know that it's just you
Hey Jude, you'll do
The movement you need is on your shoulder

Na na na na na na na na na yeah

Hey Jude, don't make it bad
Take a sad song and make it better
Remember to let her under your skin (Whoa!)
Then you begin (Fucking hell) to make it better
Better, better, better, better, better!

Na, nana, nananana
Nananana, hey Jude
Na, nana, nananana
Nananana, hey Jude

By Paul McCartney
